2 PAs required to assist gentleman with day-to-day tasks, 6 hrs p/w @ £12.89 p/h Apply at UKCIL.com. Reference: a4005c52 Job Purpose: Support Worker Role – Friendly, Hands-On & Rewarding We’re looking for a kind, reliable, and down-to-earth person to support a friendly 40-year-old gentleman in Norfolk (NR21). He’s great fun to be around, enjoys a good laugh, and is keen to build his independence and confidence in everyday life. This is a genuinely rewarding, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be working alongside him as a supportive “team mate” — whether that’s chatting over a coffee, getting stuck into some DIY or gardening, heading out for errands, or simply helping him stay on track with day-to-day life. Location: Norfolk, NR21 Details: You’ll be there to: • Be a steady, supportive presence • Help him feel safe and manage stress or anxiety • Support with everyday tasks like shopping, budgeting, and household jobs • Get involved in DIY, gardening, and general home upkeep • Accompany him to appointments, activities, or days out • Help him stay organised with routines and medication reminders • Support him safely if he has a seizure (full training provided) • Communicate clearly, calmly, and reassuringly, especially during times of stress or when situations need to be explained in a simple and supportive way Good communication is a big part of this role — both in building trust and helping him feel understood, confident, and at ease. The kind of person we’re looking for This role is just as much about personality as it is about skills. You’ll fit in well if you: • Are calm, patient, and have a good sense of humour • Enjoy a bit of banter and can build a relaxed, trusting relationship • Have good, clear communication skills and can explain things in a simple, reassuring way • Are a good listener and able to notice when someone may be feeling overwhelmed or anxious • Are happy to get stuck in with practical tasks like gardening or DIY • Are comfortable around dogs • Can stay aware of what’s going on and spot when extra support may be needed • Are open to learning and working as part of a wider support team Bonus points if you enjoy things like football, music, PC games, or nice cars — but this is not essential. Person specification Essential: · Mobility: Must hold a Full UK Driving License and have access to your own reliable car (and be willing to allow dogs in the vehicle). · Physicality: Happy and able to perform physical work, specifically gardening and DIY tasks. · Must be comfortable and confident around dogs. · Temperament: has a calm, upbeat presence; has a "thick skin" regarding forthright abuse disclosures and sometimes offensive language · Situational Awareness: The ability to "read the room" to identify rising stress levels early and prevent escalation. · Core Knowledge: A foundational understanding of (or a genuine willingness to learn about) Epilepsy, Trauma-Informed Support, ASD, and ADHD. Desirable: · Complex Care Experience: Previous experience supporting individuals with CPTSD or developmental trauma. · Medical Familiarity: Prior experience or certification in administering emergency epilepsy medication or managing post-seizure care. · Neurodiversity Background: Practical experience working with adults who have ASD and ADHD, particularly regarding "body doubling" and executive function support. · De-escalation Skills: Training in "Low Arousal" approaches or positive behavioural support to help manage moments of agitation or anger. · Personality Match: A naturally "cheeky" or personable character who enjoys banter and can build a peer-like, trusting relationship. · If you enjoy football, PC City Building Games, music and nice cars, that's also a bonus. Summary terms and conditions: · The rate of pay for this position is £12.89 per hour. · Hours and times of work: two posts of 6 hours per week, exact days and timing will be discussed at the interview. · The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks. · This position requires the employee to complete the following free annual training: GDPR, Health and Safety, First Aid, COSHH, Personal Care, Autism, Epilepsy.
