Senior Business Analyst (12 months FTC)

Location: East Croydon

Hours: 37.5 | 9.00am - 5.30pm (Hybrid working available – 2 days working from home, 3 days in our office)

Salary: Competitive


Job Purpose

The Senior Business Analyst will take functional design accountability for a suite of applications. Working with business stakeholders to understand their short, medium and longer‑term business plans, the Senior Business Analyst will work with technical specialists to design and scope projects that meet short-, mid- and long‑term needs of the business.

The Senior Business Analyst will collaborate with delivery managers to ensure work is planned and delivered as expected. The SBA will manage a small number of BAs within the team, coaching and guiding the team in best practices. They will generate detailed customer‑focused initiatives, support execution, listen to customers, implement new ideas, and improve service across online and offline channels.

They will be the voice of customers and orchestrate the organisation to live the brand purpose, inspire a customer‑first culture, and build customer love at every touchpoint of our online and offline platforms.


Key Responsibilities

* Build strong relationships with key business stakeholders and translate business need statements into business requirements.
* Taking functional accountability over a business area and providing end‑to‑end design principles for transformation projects.
* Manage demand and new requests/requirements, complete high‑level assessments and refine backlogs with the business.
* Work with delivery teams to ensure they understand requirements and priorities.
* Help with roadmap planning for your relevant application area.
* Drive best practice business analysis, learn from projects and continuously improve with delivery, technical and test teams.
* Line management of internal IT business analysts, set realistic performance targets, provide informal and formal feedback.
* Generate initiatives to meet/exceed expectations and share feedback meaningfully.
* Manage capacity and priorities of BA work across the team to ensure timely completion of impact assessments and deliverables.
* Perform BA activities on critical transformation projects: elicitation, refinement of functional and non‑functional requirements, process redesign, functional design, documentation and defect analysis/management.
* Ensure traceability from requirements through to test cases/results.
* Articulate the commercial value/cost of change to support recommendations and priority decisions.
* Facilitate business alignment on cross‑functional projects.
* Assist stakeholders in defining rollout plans, communication, training and user support plans for IT changes.
* Create and review user manuals, procedures and related documentation.
* Support third‑party selection and contract review to ensure business needs are met.
* Contribute to post‑implementation reviews to incorporate learning into future projects.
* Occasionally undertake project management activities on small, discreet IT change work.

Key Health and Safety Responsibilities

Person Specification

* 5+ years of experience in a business analysis role with full end‑to‑end development lifecycle experience.
* Experience within retail – either in a technology or a business role.
* Tech‑savvy, understanding of data structures such as JSON, XML.
* Experience working within the retail environment.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Adaptable and flexible while responding to deadlines and workflow fluctuations.
* Attention to detail, strong work ethic, confident to contribute significantly.
* Well organised and able to prioritise work effectively.
* Customer focused, consistent "can do" attitude towards the customer.
* Good communication skills – written and verbal, including presentations.


Technical Responsibilities

* Help team understand when to use AI, when to rely on human judgement, and how to combine both.
* Shift repetitive tasks to higher‑value activities as AI takes on routine work.
* Model behaviours to encourage confidence with AI, develop ability to use AI effectively, think critically about outputs.
* Strengthen human touch – balance AI efficiency with coaching, empathy and team cohesion.
