As a Business Development Manager, you will join a membership organisation with decades of experience in their market. You will play a pivotal role in managing, retaining, and improving membership relationships, as well as recruiting new members. The role combines business development, client management, and member engagement. It is field-based, with regular visits to members across the UK and attendance at key industry events. The salary range is between £35,000 and £40,000.
Key Responsibilities for the Business Development Manager
1. Engage with new and current members, building strong relationships
2. Identify and recruit new members
3. Build and manage a pipeline of prospective members, converting leads
4. Attend key industry events
5. Conduct client visits across the UK and some overseas
6. Develop strategies and collaborate with internal teams to promote membership
7. Communicate the value and benefits of membership to new and existing members
8. Conduct analysis and competitor research to ensure the membership offering remains competitive
9. Maintain the CRM system
10. Work with the training coordinator to develop in-house and on-site training programs
Skills Required
* Proven track record in sales and business development
* Experience working for a membership organisation is an advantage
* High levels of client engagement and customer service
* Confident communication skills at all levels within a business
* Highly organized, able to multitask
* Experience in cold calling, prospecting, and business development
* Effective time management skills
* Excellent negotiation and influencing skills
* Ability to establish and nurture client relationships
* High levels of initiative, energy, and drive
