Overview

Balfour Beatty are looking for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to join our Power Transmission and Distribution Team in Scotland. The role will be based on the Cambushinnie newbuild Substation project. This project is based near Braco, located between Stirling and Perth.

The HSW Advisor will support the project to drive HSW performance. They will provide efficient and effective advice to support operational HSW requirements and ensure we achieve our Zero Harm objectives. The Cambushinnie 400kV substation is part of a wider upgrade to the transmission network in the north of Scotland, helping deliver high voltage, clean renewable power for connection to homes and businesses across the UK – helping meet national net zero and energy security ambitions.


What you'll be doing

* Fully understand and support delivery of UK HSW Strategy.
* Contribute to the implementation, delivery and review of the BU Zero Harm Action Plan and Sustainability Action plan at business and/or project level.
* Support the delivery of the HSW Key Performance Indicators at project & business level.
* Support work winning teams with quality & innovative HSW responses for bids, proposals and PQQs.
* Provide expert support to investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events in accordance with Balfour Beatty Group Standards and company requirements.
* In conjunction with operational management complete a local and bespoke risk-based Service Level Agreement with each project which is kept under quarterly review.
* Undertake regular site inspections as per project risk matrix.
* Produce formal reports using the Project Portal to record planned & unplanned HSW inspections which review project performance against the UK HSW Regulatory Framework & UK Business Management System requirements.
* Undertake regular checks on Health and Safety Risk Management ensuring that appropriate risks and opportunities have been identified and are being implemented.


Who we're looking for

The Following Qualities/experience Are Essential

* Relevant H&S Diploma, NVQ or Degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification). May consider candidates with a certificate/qualification currently working towards one of these qualifications with relevant on-site experience.
* To have or be working toward Chartered Membership of IOSH.
* Ability to influence and promote a positive HS&E culture.
* Competence in incident investigation.
* Strong understanding of UK Health and Safety Regulatory Framework.
* Ability to prepare formal written reports on HS&E topics.
* Ability to undertake project planning and project management.
* Demonstrates commitment to continual learning to refine, further develop and apply expertise to add distinctive value to customers and Balfour Beatty.
* Broad experience of complex construction and civils project (or experience from an equivalent sector).
* Ability to engage and converse at all levels
