This is an exciting opportunity to join Warrington Borough Council's procurement team. The team is central to ensuring the council services are able to operate in an efficient, timely and cost effective way to meet the needs of the local population.
The role
The postholder will ensure the council complies with its obligations to ensure that its purchasing is carried out effectively and transparently within legislation and to meet the wider goals of the council. They will provide advice, guidance and training across the council to officers undertaking any purchasing activity. They will also carry out tender processes, developing specifications, assessing tenders, forming contracts and ensuring monitoring and management of contracts takes place. The postholder will be dealing with officers across all the council services, working closely with legal and financial services, suppliers and other partner organisations.
What's needed?
Candidates should be able to demonstrate good communication skills, have excellent analytical skills, as well as a high level of numeracy. They should be able to manage complex projects, able to work with minimal supervision and work effectively as a key team member. The successful applicant will be expected to undertake internationally recognised procurement qualifications, supported by the apprentice levy.
