About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Primary School Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Portsmouth.
This role involves working closely with class teachers to support pupils across the classroom, helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment where every child can succeed.
You will support children in both group and individual settings, adapting your approach to meet a range of learning and behavioural needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the class teacher in delivering engaging primary lessons
* Provide classroom-based support across a range of subjects
* Work with pupils 1:1 and in small groups where required
* Support children with learning, engagement, and classroom participation
* Help manage classroom routines and positive behaviour strategies
* Encourage confidence, independence, and a love of learning
* Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment

Essential Requirements
* Level 3 Childcare qualification (or equivalent)
* Relevant experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or youth setting
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Nursery Assistant, Youth Worker, or similar
* Enjoy working with primary-aged children (4–11)
* Be patient, caring, and approachable
* Have strong communication and teamwork skills
* Be proactive, adaptable, and supportive in approach
* Be committed to making a positive impact in education
* Be passionate about supporting children’s development
