Job Title: Senior Data Scientist – Battery Analytics Reports To: Principal Engineer – Battery Analytics Department: Elysia Cloud – Data Analytics Position Type: Permanent Location: Kidlington, Oxford or Central London location available Onsite policy: Hybrid, 3 days on / 2 days off working offered Role Purpose: The employee will act in a data science and development capacity to development execution to produce novel battery analytics methods with steer from the principal engineer and technical specialist. They will be expected to autonomously execute the development process from fast prototyping and testing, through to the productisation of their analytics code. The employee will be responsible for planning their work accordingly and will be expected to mitigate the risks that they see to the execution of their projects. The employee will collaborate with the broader cloud team in the development of the Elysia Battery Intelligence Cloud Platform. The purpose of the team is to accelerate electrification globally by maximising, protecting, and assuring the performance, safety, and reliability of the battery through its lifecycle through advanced software and battery analytics. The employee will also be expected to deepen their technical knowledge in the fields in which they are working by regularly presenting to and engaging with other research focused teams in the business which would give a deeper technical understanding of the facets involved in battery analytics. It is expected for the senior data scientist to become an expert in one or more of the facets of battery analytics development. Job Responsibilities: The employee will be delivery-focused with a pragmatic, product-oriented approach to development. Development of battery analytics: Design, development & evaluation of battery algorithms to give insight into performance, lifetime and safety of batteries assets in operation. To create project plans and to breakdown large projects into manageable work packages and enumerate the tasks within these work packages autonomously Provide insightful, scalable and robust algorithms using a combination of data-driven and physics-informed approaches Experience & Qualifications : Details of the experience needed to be successful in the role, the qualifications essential/desirable to be able to fulfil the role and any specific behavioural traits. Essential: 3 year’s experience in roles related to data science, electrification or statistical machine learning Masters level qualification in a STEM subject Experience in one or more of batteries, statistics & machine learning or professional software development Strong experience with Python and its wider numerical & scientific ecosystem (e.g. numpy, scipy, pandas / polars) To be a flexible, proactive thinker who drives the design and development of new ideas that can make a difference. Beneficial: Deep experience in one of batteries, statistics & machine learning or professional software development PhD in fields related to electrochemistry, machine learning or probabilistic & statistical methods Knowledge of & experience in the automotive OEM market or battery energy storage systems in utility scale markets
