Marston’s Press Officer and Social Media Manager
We are excited to announce a newly created position within Marston’s in-house Corporate Affairs team. As the Press Officer and Social Media Manager, you will play a key role in managing the reputation of the Group while amplifying positive newsflow externally, supporting our strategy to make Marston’s the UK's leading local pub company.
This will be an agile role, with a minimum of one day per week spent at our modern head offices in Wolverhampton alongside a mix of home working and remote working in our great local pubs.
Main Responsibilities:
Manage the new Marston’s press office inbox, ensuring incoming requests are managed and/or fielded to the appropriate teams internally
Lead on local PR opportunities and support impactful national media campaigns, in collaboration with Marston’s external corporate PR agencies
Craft press releases, case studies, and assets for the Group’s regulatory reporting (Annual Report and Impact Report) and owned channels (primarily the Group website and LinkedIn) to amplify positive news from across our business
Devise, manage, and execute the content plan for Marston’s strategically important LinkedIn account, with the objective of increasing the Group’s followers, engagement, and reaching new audiences with a focus on new talent and investors
Monitor the Group’s other social media platforms for positive PR stories and reputational risks
Support the Director of Corporate Affairs and Marston’s external crisis agency on live issues management
Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices, supporting with the preparation of briefing notes and Q&As for management ahead of media opportunities
Monitor and deliver positive media coverage for the Group and our pubs to build a strong public image for Marston’s
Required Skills and Experience:
•Excellent communication skills: Both written and verbal
•Strong journalistic skills: Ability to write clear, concise, and engaging content
•Media relations experience: Knowledge of media outlets, journalists, and public relations best practices
•Event planning and management experience: Ability to organize and promote events
•Social media savvy: Experience with social media platforms and content creation
•Ability to work under pressure: Handle tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks
•Strong organisational skills: Stay organised and manage a busy workload
•Knowledge of the pub industry: Understanding of the pub market and customer base
•Ability to build and maintain relationships: Connect with journalists and other stakeholders
