This senior-level procurement role sits within a highly innovative organisation developing advanced, high-performance products for global markets. You will play a pivotal part in strengthening the procurement function-overseeing a small team of buyers while managing strategic sourcing activities that support large-scale manufacturing and assembly operations. The Role Reporting into the Strategic Procurement Manager, the Senior Buyer will oversee both strategic and tactical purchasing across a broad range of suppliers and commodities, ensuring materials and services are delivered on time, to specification, and within budget. This is an influential role within a fast-scaling, engineering-driven environment, offering the opportunity to shape procurement strategy, support production readiness, and drive supplier development and continuous improvement across the business. Key Responsibilities Manage procurement of key mechanical, electrical, and composite components to support engineering and production programmes. Strengthen supplier relationships, tracking performance and driving improvements in cost, quality, and delivery. Lead contract negotiations, prepare agreements, and ensure procurement practices align with wider business goals. Develop and implement sourcing strategies to optimise spend and manage critical commodity groups. Support improvements to ERP systems and identify areas to enhance supply chain efficiency. Lead and mentor a small team of buyers, carrying out regular 1:1s and performance reviews. Work closely with engineering, operations, and production teams to ensure purchasing activities align with project timelines. Assist with departmental KPIs, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with company standards around quality, safety, and ethical sourcing. About You Essential Criteria: Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, manufacturing, business, or supply chain. Strong experience in strategic procurement with proven supplier management capability. Background in purchasing complex, multi-component or systems-based products. Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain operations. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop small teams in a fast-paced setting. Desirable Criteria: CIPS membership or similar professional accreditation. Experience procuring mechanical or composite engineering components. ERP knowledge and experience in process and data-driven improvements.
