The Assistant Buyer Level 2 reports to a Buyer/Senior Buyer, working together to deliver the best ranges, with some buying responsibility as a stepping stone to becoming a Buyer. The role supports delivering profitable, customer-centric ranges and assists the buying team in daily tasks.
What you’ll be responsible for as an Assistant Buyer
1. Work with the Buyer or Senior Buyer to develop customer-centric ranges with appropriate pricing and quality standards
2. Manage supplier relationships and negotiate costs
3. Handle critical path management
4. Support the development and motivation of BAA’s under guidance
5. Assist in delivering margin targets
6. Participate in fashion range planning and support range building
7. Review weekly sales, focusing on best and worst sellers, and implement trade actions
8. Monitor fashion market and customer activity through competitive analysis
9. Attend fit sessions and contribute to product development
10. Participate in buying meetings
11. Review sales performance and product issues regularly
12. Conduct website checks for product setup issues and resolve them
What you will need to succeed as an Assistant Buyer
1. Relevant degree in fashion or equivalent experience
2. Excellent administrative, communication, and organizational skills
3. Strong interest in fashion and customer focus
4. Driven and motivated attitude
5. Retail experience is essential
