Overview
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced RTA/EL/PL Litigator to join our Bromley or Leeds based Legal Services team on a full time and permanent basis.
Reporting to the Litigation Team Leader, you will be handling a caseload of Claimant Employers Liability claims, Personal Liability claims and unusual Road traffic Accidents such as Pedestrian or Cyclist claims.
Responsibilities
* Managing a client’s claim by continually using the firm’s technical process and accurately documenting each activity and ensuring time is recorded accurately.
* Carrying out investigations into incident circumstances and the value of the client’s claim, conducting legal research as required, collating and reviewing evidence, assessing prospects of success and potential value of the claim for personal injury and recoverable losses.
* Providing clients with correct legal advice, managing expectations, explaining decisions and steps in the claims process clearly, and ensuring fair treatment at all times.
* Negotiating settlements on the best possible terms for the client and keeping the legal expenses provider updated at key stages.
* Drafting documents to issue court proceedings, complying with directions, drafting statements, and briefing counsel as necessary, including costs statements.
* Managing cases efficiently to meet departmental targets and service level agreements, and keeping the client proactively informed where appropriate.
* Identifying and investigating conflicts, complaints and potential negligence, reporting to a team leader or compliance team as needed.
* Maintaining good working relationships with colleagues, management, staff, suppliers and external organisations; supporting continuous improvement in client experience and practice standards.
What We Are Looking For
* Experienced Claims Handler, Legal Executive or Solicitor.
* Previous experience of RTA / EL / PL claims handling, in an insurance company or law firm.
* Knowledge of Pre-Action Protocols, CPR, practice directions and related regulations for accidents at work.
* Experience using a Case Management System; knowledge of JC Guidelines for general damages and ability to research resources (e.g., Lawtel).
* Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure with attention to detail.
Location and Working Model
Location: Bromley or Leeds
Home Working: Hybrid model (2 days in the office, 3 from home)
Working hours: 35 hours per week (Monday - Friday)
