Rhizocore Technologies is an applied mycology company using fungi to accelerate forest growth. We develop cutting-edge solutions using mycorrhizal fungi to help forests thrive, reduce reliance on artificial fertilizers, and boost soil carbon sequestration.
Based at the Roslin Innovation Centre, we’re scaling rapidly and seeking a Mycologist to help expand our fungal strain library and develop innovative culturing techniques.
About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to work at the cutting edge of applied mycology. The post holder will support various aspects of laboratory work, but will primarily focus on expanding our fungal library by operationally managing collection trips. Additional responsibilities include running other supplemental experiments, performing laboratory administration, and conducting data analysis.
You will:
1. Plan and execute fungal collection trips across the UK and internationally.
2. Apply and develop culturing methodologies to diversify our strain library.
3. Perform molecular identification techniques (DNA extraction, PCR amplification, DNA barcoding).
4. Conduct fungal field surveys and maintain accurate records.
5. Support experiments on fungal growth and media optimization.
