We have a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Director to join our team within Vistry South East Midlands, at our Enderby office. As our Technical Director, you will be required to manage the Technical team and head up the Technical Department to ensure that they fulfil contracts safely, on time, and to the required quality while minimising costs. You will have full responsibility and control of the Regional Technical department and will manage the complete design process, involving the management of consultants, design input from internal and external parties, liaison with statutory authorities and clients, leading the team through material selection, construction detailing, and compliance with statutory criteria.

Requirements

* Construction/design related HNC/HND/Degree
* New build experience in social/affordable housing sites and private spec housing
* Proven ability to lead a team to ensure delivery of projects on time, to budget and quality standards with high customer satisfaction results
* Experience with traditional construction and timber frame construction
* Experienced in analysing problems and delivering solutions
* Commercially aware and able to make decisions within authority
* Excellent time management with ability to multitask
* Professional aptitude and appearance at all times

Role Responsibilities
* Direct and lead the regional technical team
* Provide technical reports to inform land bids
* Control the design process from planning application through to project completion following the Life of Site processes
* Manage the scoping and obtaining of fee proposals and review recommendations for the appointment of consultants
* Review detailed design prepared by consultants in accordance with Employer’s Requirements, Contractor proposals and specifications
* Drive delivery of all design and technical solutions to allow the region to achieve its targets
* Ensure timely registration by the Technical team with warranty providers (e.g., NHBC, Premier, Robust Details, Building Regulation Application)
* Ensure the preparation, approval and distribution of the Health and Safety File and operating and maintenance manuals by the Technical team
* Ensure the Technical team provides timely completion and issue of technical assessments, reports, warranties, certificates and condition discharges
* Review the team’s design development to ensure construction follows safety working practices and is in accordance with current legislation, group policy and procedures
* Ensure achievement and adherence to the annual financial budget and milestones for the business unit
* Oversee the management of the process of designing solutions, including temporary works requirements
* Ensure the Technical team conducts value engineering and achieves best value within agreed timescales
