The Community Forensic Service (CFS) is a specialist mental health service for people with a mental disorder who pose a serious risk of harm to others. We also offer support to their carers. We coordinate the care of clients with mental health conditions in the community who are under a restriction order of the MHA (section 42). We manage access to low, medium and high secure inpatient beds and have an oversight of the admission. We support other teams and external organisations through specialist assessments and joint working.
The post holder will lead an integrated team of staff and will be responsible for delegating duties and taking a lead on the day to day running of the team. Leadership responsibilities include deputising for the Service Manager as required, providing oversight of the day-to-day operations of the service, and supporting the ongoing development of the team. You will also provide clinical supervision to community forensic practitioners and be responsible for their clinical development.

* Lead and motivate staff to provide a proactive and responsive high quality service, contributing to ongoing audit and evaluation.
* Ensure the necessary systems and protocols for a safe and supportive service are in place, understood and adhered to throughout the Service.
* Establish and monitor effective communications systems within the Service and with other services, agencies and partners.
* Work with the Service Manager to agree clear, deliverable objectives and ensure they are implemented and monitored.
* Provide clinical supervision and performance management for staff within the Service.
* Monitor team performance, including delivery of targets and data quality reporting as required.
Person Specification
Essential
* Clinical qualification at Diploma level or above in Mental Health nursing with evidence of transferable mental health skills and practice.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience working with people with mental illness.
Desirable
* Post-qualification training to degree level is desirable but not essential.
* Experience in forensic mental health, particularly in the community, is desirable.
Other requirements
* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as per policy; subject to Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
* UK professional registration required.
