Summary
An opportunity has opened for a Senior Project Manager within our SSE North Scotland business, to lead project managers overseeing teams installing electrical power distribution and transmission systems from 11kV to 132kV. The role focuses on delivering safe, profitable, timely projects with high workmanship quality, ensuring networks are fit for purpose and promoting the company's positive image.
The Senior Project Manager will manage their own projects while supervising multiple Project Managers who handle various electrical network projects concurrently. These projects may include installation of power system components such as cables, switchgear, transformers, busbars, relay panels, and associated equipment in substations operating at up to 132KV.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading multiple project managers and teams, reporting to the Operations Manager, to build confidence and promote business growth. Acting as a first-line problem solver.
* Providing leadership, guidance, and support to project teams and customers, ensuring discipline and support.
* Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures, undertaking site supervisor roles as required, including managing customer-appointed contractors and subcontractors.
* Managing multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing project tasks, and appraising team members to develop skills and performance.
* Organizing and controlling resources, including materials, equipment, and labor, for ongoing projects.
* Maintaining good commercial awareness, managing valuations, and ensuring project documentation such as as-built records, test results, and updated drawings are completed accurately.
Qualifications and experience:
* HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Operational knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.
* Site safety passport and experience working on CDM sites.
* SSSTS or SMSTS certification is desirable.
* Possession of SSE DNO authorization or equivalent for PTW management.
