This is a band 5/6 position dependent on experience.
Responsibilities include:
1. Work within NMC codes of practice and professional guidelines.
2. Work autonomously within Trust guidelines and practice with reference to departmental manager as appropriate.
3. Maintain revalidation requirements and meet with the named Supervisor of Midwives for an annual review.
4. Provide effective and visible clinical leadership.
5. Advocate and support the rights of women to make informed choices about their care.
6. Promote equality, diversity, and rights.
7. Support junior colleagues and student midwives in their development through constructive feedback.
8. Undertake all mandatory training required by the Trust and specific to midwifery practice.
9. Act up for the departmental ward manager/team leader in their absence.
10. Facilitate women's involvement in decision-making regarding their pregnancy, birth, and postnatal care.
11. Demonstrate organisational skills in planning clinical workload.
12. Provide high-quality, evidence-based midwifery care throughout the maternity pathway.
13. Work collaboratively to ensure seamless care for women and families.
14. Recognise deviations from normality and escalate appropriately.
15. Communicate effectively with women, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
16. Manage expectations of women and families in your care.
17. Identify and act on adult and child safeguarding issues.
18. Work as a supportive team member to promote effective team working.
19. Maintain knowledge of clinical equipment used within Maternity services.
20. Understand and contribute to the Trust's Risk Management policy to improve patient outcomes.
21. Contribute to audits and statistical evidence related to MLU activity.

* This role is not suitable for internationally educated Midwives without an active UK NMC pin.
* Maintain confidentiality and data protection in accordance with GDPR.
