We are very excited to be able to advertise for a senior child and adolescent psychotherapist to join our busy and dynamic outpatient CAMHS team in Redbridge on a permanent basis. We have an enthusiastic and established therapy team, and we are looking for a child and adolescent psychotherapist who is knowledgeable and passionate about young people's mental health and wellbeing to join us in the delivery of high quality and effective CAMHS interventions. This is an exciting time to be joining our large therapies team as we are embarking on service wide initiatives to meet the mental health needs of our diverse population of children and young people. We are looking to embed the principles of the iThrive model and would love to have a dynamic psychotherapist on board to help ensure psychodynamic and psychotherapeutic approaches are accessible to our families - ensuring real choice and diversity of therapeutic approaches to match the diversity of the population. You would be part of a professional network of child and adolescent psychotherapists and be encouraged to attend the regular twice monthly Child Psychotherapy meetings across London and Essex CAMHS services within NELFT. We also look to support personal and professional development and would wish to discuss CPD opportunities with the successful applicant.
Responsibilities
Main duties of the job. This role requires a post-graduate qualified child and adolescent psychotherapist registered with the appropriate professional or regulatory body and have 2 years plus experience in delivering psychotherapy in a CAMHS setting. The successful postholder will have to be a full member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists to fulfil their supervisory duties. The post holder will be an effective team member, using their own initiative, supporting peers and the team lead. They will have a commitment to actively support and liaise with other professionals & agencies as we embed a trauma- and culturally-informed model of practice within the service. They will receive regular clinical supervision from the lead psychologist and will be expected to attend and participate in MDT team meetings. This role is suited to a candidate who is keen on service development, as well as managing a clinical caseload.
About us
Starting with NELFT: NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period: This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High-Cost Area Supplement: This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941) pro rata for part time staff.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
* Successful completion of a post-graduate training in psychological practice (e.g. art psychotherapist, psychologist, family therapist, child and adolescent psychotherapist)
* To be eligible for registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body (e.g. HCPC, BACP, UKCP, AFT, ACP)
Experience Essential
* Extensive experience of working with difficult, disturbed or challenging children/young people requiring skilled and complex interventions
* Extensive experience of working with children and adolescents with co-morbid difficulties and special needs (e.g. autistic spectrum disorders and trauma)
* Experience of working therapeutically with parents/carers/families of children and young people with complex mental health problems
* Experience of using observation to contribute to assessments of children (e.g., in school contexts)
* Experience of carrying out generic assessment with other colleagues in the multidisciplinary team
* Experience of specialist assessment carried out autonomously to determine the most appropriate treatment plan
* Extensive experience of providing specialist individual interventions with a wide range of children and young people (3–19 years old)
* Experience of initiating, organising and planning inter-agency meetings to set in place a tailored treatment package
* Experience of providing professional teaching and training for other professionals
* Experience of providing clinical interventions in different cultural contexts
Knowledge Essential
* Awareness of NHS priorities, NHS Plan, NSF and clinical governance priorities
* High level knowledge of short/long term clinical interventions in CAMHS/EWMHS
* Knowledge of legislation relating to children and adolescents and safeguarding procedures
* Knowledge of NHS, Social Care and Education structures, policies and frameworks; evidence-based practice including NICE guidelines
* Knowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk to ensure safety
* Knowledge of electronic record systems (e.g., Rio)
* Knowledge of research methodology and ability to critically interpret research findings
