School HR Administrator – Walsall – £15‑£16ph (maternity cover). This interim HR Assistant role supports a busy HR team on a long‑term maternity contract, Monday to Friday during term time (8:00‑16:00). Start date: as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and administer the staff recruitment process.
* Coordinate and administer DBS checks for all staff and volunteers in line with the school’s safeguarding policy.
* Administer and maintain the Single Central Record.
* Maintain and update accurate personnel records for staff.
* Coordinate and administer absence management, recording and coding absence, identifying triggers, organising occupational health referrals and providing reports for line managers/leadership team.
* Coordinate sickness‑absence review meetings, absence improvement plans and draft and provide review‑meeting outcome letters to staff.
* Maintain payroll information in the online portal and create, input and check monthly payroll transactions in accordance with the agreed timetable.
* Coordinate and administer staff pay increments annually.
* Complete the school workforce census.
Qualifications
• HR experience in a school setting, working quickly and independently.
• Recent satisfactory references for a similar placement carried out within the last two years.
• A clear DBS check.
