Rolls‑Royce SMR’s Nuclear Equipment & Dynamics Structural Analysis team scrutinises a range of critical components and equipment including Reactor Pressure Vessel Internals, test rigs, fuel handling, Integrated Head Package, and Control Rod Drive Mechanisms. As a Nuclear Equipment Engineer you will undertake structural analysis calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) on SMR components, support the definition of required analysis activities, engage with design and supplier teams, and contribute to cost, quality and schedule delivery.
Responsibilities
* Undertake structural analysis calculations and FEA in line with relevant design standards (e.g. ASME) and good practice.
* Define required analysis activities and, where necessary, validate them.
* Engage with the wider structural analysis team and nuclear equipment design teams, suppliers and stakeholders across multiple topics.
* Contribute to the timeline plan for nuclear equipment, supporting delivery to cost, quality and schedule.
* Provide hand‑based calculations using software such as Mathcad and/or Excel and support cross‑project and programme delivery.
Qualifications
* Degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Experience performing hand calculations and using software such as Mathcad or Excel.
* Capacity to work across projects and programmes.
* Ability to support dynamic analysis approaches to meet equipment performance criteria, design maturity and timeline demands.
Salary and Benefits
£44,625–£55,125 per year, plus a performance‑related bonus of up to 12.5%. Benefits include:
* £2,200 allowance to create a bespoke package.

Work Arrangements
Hybrid working is offered with office locations in Derby, Warrington or Manchester. The position can also accommodate flexible hours, remote working and part‑time hours to support work‑life balance, with arrangements determined in collaboration with the employee and line manager.
