Location: Pacific Quay, Glasgow (office based)
Proposed salary range: £27,600 - £33,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Purpose of the role
This is an opportunity to be part of the BBC Scotland news family bringing the latest news and headlines to audiences across Scotland. You’ll play a key role in setting the daily news agenda on linear and digital bulletins. You will also create content for our daily audio programmes.
Why join the team
As well as setting the daily news agenda on linear output you will also deliver the digital news bulletins for Scotland. In addition you will work across audio output creating content for our leading audio news brands. This role involves varied working hours including weekend working.
Key Responsibilities and Impact
* Writing concise and accurate news stories for audio and digital bulletins, demonstrating the ability to exercise strong editorial judgement to tight deadlines
* Excellent writing ability with a solid understanding of legal and editorial issues
* Contributing on a daily basis to the production of original journalism by the BBC Scotland news team
* Creating content on a daily basis for our audio programmes including Good Morning Scotland, Lunchtime Live, Drive and Scotcast
* Liaising daily with teams in radio, TV and online in order to promote an integrated approach
Essential Criteria
Your Skills and Experience
* Strong journalistic skills and experience of delivering on air news bulletins
* In depth knowledge of politics, current affairs and ongoing issues in Scotland and further afield
* Experience in crafting and producing concise, accurate news content
Desirable But Not Required
* Proven track record of original journalism
