Role
This secondment opportunity is for a 3‑month role to support the corporate communications function at NHSGGC. The post holder will assist in the design, delivery and implementation of communications campaigns, including measurement, and will work closely with senior leadership and the executive team to deliver events and manage an ongoing programme of visits. Responsibilities also include planning and delivering the annual staff awards event in October.
Duration, Location and Working Pattern
3‑month secondment based at JB Russell House, Gartnavel Royal Hospital, G12 0XH. Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide advice on communications strategies to the Board, the Chief Executive and Senior Managers within the organisation.
* Formulate communication plans for NHSGGC, adjusting as issues arise and support operational planning with the Deputy Director and Director of Communications and Engagement.
* Coordinate a press response for major incidents or emergencies, liaising with other agencies to ensure consistent statements and managing interviews with key staff.
* Review communication policies and strategies in partnership with the Deputy Director of Communications and Engagement.
* Manage the budget for the annual Celebrating Success Awards.
* Oversee a range of ministerial and elected representative visits to the Health Board and the internal visit programme.
* Lead delivery of the annual awards, securing future funding and governance.
* Serve as a member of the Greater Glasgow multi‑agency Emergency Planning communications group to develop multi‑agency working in the event of a major incident or emergency.
Qualifications and Experience
* Knowledge of communications, public relations, journalism, marketing communications techniques and approaches.
* Experience and knowledge of effectively organising a busy, high‑profile communications function.
* Knowledge of project management techniques and applications.
* Understanding of the external political environment.
* Authoritative knowledge of the Data Protection Act, the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act and the Scottish legal system.
* Academic background of degree level or equivalent, with additional training or experience in communications commensurate with master’s level, or equivalent.
* Motivational and negotiating skills.
