We are seeking a Senior Contract Manager (Job ID 32388) to join the Environment Agency’s Defra Group Fleet Services team.
Overview
As a lead contract professional, you will drive meaningful change and support the Agency’s ambitious fleet strategy. You will oversee a diverse portfolio of purchase and service contracts, manage supplier relationships, and ensure compliance with environmental, legal, and health & safety standards.
Responsibilities
* Manage a team of specialists overseeing a portfolio of purchase and service contracts for the Environment Agency and Defra partners.
* Collaborate across departments to identify business requirements, shape contract strategies, and lead procurement processes through to contract award.
* Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, manage full contract lifecycles, and ensure compliance with environmental, legal, and health & safety standards.
* Participate in incident response training and related activities.
* Report directly to the Strategic Fleet Manager and support the national team within the Strategy, Transformation and Assurance Directorate.
Qualifications / Experience
* Proven track record of delivering commercial value through strategic contract oversight.
* Confident leader capable of advising on contract matters and developing solutions within policy frameworks.
* Experience shaping and influencing fleet policy at national and local levels.
* Strong data‑driven performance monitoring, interpreting supplier data to provide evidence‑based recommendations.
* Successful partnership building with internal stakeholders and external providers.
* Leadership of geographically‑dispersed teams, ensuring efficient planning and delivery against objectives.
* Full UK driving licence.
Additional Information
As part of a national team, the location is flexible. You may be required to work in EA offices and attend national meetings, possibly with some overnight stays.
Full‑time with flexible work patterns considered.
