How you'll make a difference
As an Education Engagement Worker, you will work with young people and their families to support them in building positive family and peer relationships so they can thrive in their adolescent years and in their transition to adulthood. Working within the Young Peoples Support team and in the Education Inclusion Project, you will deliver targeted intervention and support packages for young people who may be facing school exclusion or managed move due to youth violence, exploitation or other vulnerabilities.
What you will be doing
* Provide direct intervention packages on a one-to-one basis with children, young people and families.
* Represent and support the needs of the young people, providing regular reports to schools and education panels.
* Provide mediation, advice and guidance between the young person/family and the school when required.
* Ensure that records and reports are maintained in accordance with service guidelines.
What we need from you
* Hold an NVQ3 in play work, youth work, teaching or equivalent, or be working towards an appropriate qualification related to services to children and young people.
* Relevant experience working in a similar service area with children, young people or families requiring additional support.
* Good report writing skills and ability to carry out risk assessments.
* Strong relationship building skills with hard-to-engage young people.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice relating to children and young people’s services.
What you need to know
* This is a limited term contract, ending 31st March 2027.
* Employment requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
* This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Patchway Police Station and from home.
