Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Fixed Term, Full Time role as Highway Infrastructure Manager to join the Highways and Traffic Management Service of Southampton City Council (SCC). The role will lead a major Electric Vehicle (EV) and highways infrastructure project, manage the principal contractor and oversee the operation of SCC owned EV infrastructure and new initiatives to promote the transition to EV.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the management of the highway network and the assets within it, including structures, ITS, street furniture, adoptions, MTE and dropped crossings.
* Manage enquiries with members of the public, Councillors and Members of Parliament regarding highways and EV infrastructure.
* Support the development of policies and strategies that meet the council’s cooperation plans and ambitions.
* Put in place and use programme management systems, including financial reporting processes, databases, project monitoring and other systems to support project success and ensure consistent accurate reporting to senior management and stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Highly experienced project manager with a focus on infrastructure projects.
* Experienced with managing large programmes with complex project management characteristics, on‑time and to budget in politically sensitive environments.
* Good knowledge of highways work and best practices and specifications of excavations, installation and reinstatement on the highway.
* Good understanding of CDM regulations.
* Detailed and current technical knowledge of EV chargers and EV infrastructure, including implementation and pitfalls.
* Qualified in EVI management.

Salary
The salary band for this role is Grade 11. The starting salary is £52,413 with annual progression through the salary band up to £58,865.
