Head of Subject - A Level Geography Location: Newcastle Hours 29.6 to 37 hours position available Salary: £32,136 - £42,848 pro rata per annum
We are looking for a Head of Subject for A Level Geography within our Academic Studies Department. The role requires an inspiring lecturer with a degree‑level qualification and a Level 5 teaching qualification such as the Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent.
Responsibilities
* Organise, plan and monitor high quality delivery on the agreed courses, including the coordination of other lecturers.
* Deliver excellent standards of teaching and learning across all areas within the curriculum.
* Lead the Course Self‑Assessment Reporting process.
* Play an active role in marketing the College and Department through open days and liaison with local employers and schools.
* Engage in core duties including preparation, marking, monitoring student progress, preparing reports, setting and marking examination papers and coursework, and developing flexible learning materials.
* Monitor retention, achievement, pass rates and overall student progress.
Qualifications & Skills
* Holds a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
* Has an appropriate teaching qualification.
* Is well organised and can manage peaks and troughs of a varied workload.
* Has experience delivering A Level Geography.
* Self‑motivated, enthusiastic and a team player.
