Job Summary
Broadland and South Norfolk District Councils are looking to appoint a Landscape Architect to join our well‑established, multi‑disciplinary Development Management Team, playing a key role in shaping major schemes, urban extensions and sensitive development across both urban and rural settings.
Role
Working across two council areas surrounding the city of Norwich, the role offers exposure to a wide and varied portfolio, including:
* Large‑scale residential developments and strategic urban extensions
* Major employment sites and enterprise areas
* Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), including renewable energy and power distribution schemes
* Local Development Orders and innovative placemaking initiatives
* Development proposals affecting valued landscapes, heritage assets and rural communities
You will work alongside planners, urban designers, ecologists, heritage specialists and legal colleagues, ensuring landscape considerations are fully integrated into planning decisions from pre‑application through to determination and delivery.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a Degree (or equivalent) in Landscape Architecture, experience in Landscape Planning or Landscape Management, and be a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (or eligible and working towards). Significant post‑qualification experience in a relevant role, a sound understanding of development management processes and the planning system, and the ability to apply professional judgement pragmatically, creatively and proportionately are required.
