EQUANS is looking for a Multiskilled Technician (Electrical bias) on a permanent basis. This role is based in Salford, working for our Tameside and Salford Hospitals contract. The shifts alternate weekly: Week 1: 07:00 – 15:00 and Week 2: 10:00 – 18:00. Salary is £36,000 + £2,083 on‑call allowance, plus a benefits package.
General Overview
The Multi‑Skilled Technician will be responsible for the technical performance and maintenance at Salford Royal Hospital and may occasionally cover Tameside General Hospital. The technician will provide guidance to other staff, demonstrate technical expertise in electrical systems, ensure compliant solutions, and deliver efficient customer service. They will form part of the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota and work 37.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
* Plan, prioritise and resource projects.
* Ensure workloads are planned and delivered to specification.
* Ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures, maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of H&S and environmental regulations.
* Install, maintain and repair plant equipment.
* Diagnose, fault‑find, commission systems and monitor performance through the PPM programme, identifying additional works required.
* Administer and complete relevant paperwork in a timely manner.
* Develop effective working relationships with business partners and subcontractors, completing all relevant permits.
* Maintain a fair, consistent and courteous attitude in all dealings.
* Keep a full driving licence and maintain a smart appearance and professional manner.
* Work under pressure, take ownership of problems and resolve them.
* Report issues to the Technical Services Supervisor/Manager as required.
* Attend training courses funded by Equans.
* Train to become an Authorised Person/Responsible Person in relevant disciplines – additional salary uplift is awarded.

Qualifications or Required Experience
* Recognised electrical apprenticeship.
* 18th Edition.
* Experience working on lighting and small power circuits.
* Sound awareness of risk assessment and working safely with equipment.
* Sound knowledge of Health & Safety.
* Ability to measure, work to plans (method statements), read technical diagrams.
Desirable Experience
* PFI/Healthcare experience (advantageful).
* Experience reviewing detailed schematics.
* Use of a Building Management System (BMS).
* PPM & Reactive Work experience.
* Authorised Person/Competent Person experience.
