To support patients during radiology examinations and assist other imaging assistants with preparing patients and conducting examinations. To act as a mentor and role model to junior RDAs, providing advice and guidance. To be proactive in supporting radiology staff, ensuring the patient's needs come first. To deliver a proficient cannulation service and mentor junior RDAs training in this area, with appropriate training provided.
1. Check stock levels as part of weekly departmental stock checks.
2. Communicate effectively with a broad range of patients prior to examinations, including those with language barriers or medical conditions affecting understanding.
3. Manage multiple, often conflicting demands on attention while remaining focused on current tasks.
4. Understand and comply with legislative obligations, including the Data Protection Act, Health and Safety at Work Act, COSHH, local radiation rules, and departmental and Trust policies.
5. Perform additional duties as requested by senior management.
6. Participate in annual performance appraisals and reviews, setting future objectives.
7. Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, acting as an ambassador for the profession and department.
8. Coordinate patient arrivals and departures from relevant departments.
9. Assist in manual handling of patients moving to and from scanning areas, following trust policies.
10. Manage admissions and discharges for injection lists.
11. Perform cannulation where required.
12. Train and mentor junior staff.
