An exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialty doctor to join our established medical team within the Women's and Children centre based at The Princess Royal Hospital.
The post would initially attract 10 PAs with the possibility to an additional 2 PAs after appointment.
Our vision is for the highest quality care, to provide an environment in which all staff, and in particular trainees, are supported and thrive, with greater delivery of care by Consultants in line with RCPCH recommendations.
Main duties of the job
Clinical
1. Acute General Paediatrics - CAU/ ED Cover.
2. General Paediatric Outpatient Clinics, seeing new and follow-up patients.
3. General ward duties, including patient reviews and day to day assistance with management of the ward.
4. Provision of opinion and support as required by the A& E department.
5. Support for critically ill or injured children.
6. 1 in 6 weekend cover split between support for the RSH ED department and the PRH in-patient unit.
7. To develop enhanced clinical skills, especially in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.
8. To have excellent team-working skills with the abilities and professional attitude to work well in a multi-professional team.
9. To deliver clinical and quality targets agreed both nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.
10. To follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.

Job responsibilities
A formal job plan will be agreed between the successful candidate and their Clinical Director and consultant colleagues, on behalf of the Medical Director within 3 months of starting in post.
A full-time job plan is based on a 10 PA working week. The job plan will be reviewed annually and is a prospective agreement that sets out the doctors duties, responsibilities, and objectives for the coming year. It covers all aspects of a doctors professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external and will include personal objectives, detailing links to wider service improvements and trust strategic priorities.
There is already separation of rotas at junior tier (24/7) and middle-tier (09:00-17:00hrs Mon-Fri) for paediatric and neonatal services. There is separation of the Consultant tier 24/7, and the middle tier 09:00-23:00hrs 24/7. This post aims to complete tier 2 separation.

15. Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
16. Have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time basis), in paediatrics, or as a fixed term specialty trainee (or equivalent) or have equivalent experience and competencies.
17. Competent to work without direct supervision.
18. Able to conduct practical procedures required of the post.
19. Experienced in making clinical decision independently and managing clinical risk.
