Reporting to the Production Manager you will lead on the delivery of the SHEQ Strategy within the brand.
This position will adopt a hands-on approach to drive and promote continuous improvement in culture, systems and behaviours.
Location: Cookstown
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8.45am-5.00pm and Friday 8.45am-3.30pm ¦ On site
Occasional travel within GB will be expected to help support and facilitate SHEQ requirements in one of our sister brands.
Responsibilities & Duties
* Promote Health & Safety in the workplace, displaying excellent personal safety and challenging others when unsafe behaviour is observed. Ensure that behaviour is in accordance with the company Health & Safety guidelines.
* Manage and facilitate health and safety activities in a manner that ensures all statutory and company requirements are achieved and maintained in support of the business objectives.
* Lead health and safety, driving tangible improvements in safety performance and culture
* Coordinate the investigation and management of incidents (including major incidents) alongside a recent NEBOSH qualified colleague, providing advice on root cause, prevention and sharing lessons learned.
* Lead internal Health & Safety auditing and complete audits (where required) to maintain a safe working environment.
* Develop SHEQ Policies and Procedures and deploy these throughout the site.
* Maintain and monitor H&S Training matrix and schedule within the team.
* Identify gaps in compliance and develop roadmaps to drive closure of identified items through the team.
* Manage SHEQ improvement projects.
* Oversee and drive SHEQ improvement projects in conjunction with key stakeholders.
* Deliver detailed and robust risk assessments for key business processes.
* Develop and embed QC processes across manufacturing and technical functions.
* Deliver cost savings through application of root cause analysis.
* Assisting with key Quality and Environmental issues eg: ISO 9001 & ISO14001
* Engage with all levels of the organisation, working collaboratively with the H&S Director, board and external stakeholders
* Carry out H&S inductions with new starters and deliver basic safety based training to all employees
* Any other duties reasonably requested by your line manager
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* A Bachelor’s degree within a relevant H&S/quality related background
* A demonstrable track record of improving health, safety and/or quality management and outcomes within a manufacturing environment.
* Recent demonstrable experience within a SHEQ/equivalent role; successfully influencing, engaging and coordinating a range of stakeholders towards a common safety goal.
* Prior experience of delivering robust quality control and quality improvement projects
* Good knowledge of MS Excel & Safety Systems
* Passionate and hard-working with a hands-on approach- this role will be based within our Production shopfloor so will require someone willing to take a practical, direct style.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment
Desirable: NEBOSH qualified or working toward this qualification would be advantageous although not essential.
