Start Date: 1 August 2026 The Governors of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint a committed and trustworthy Caretaker to help maintain our lovely school site and ensure that it remains safe, secure and well cared for. This is a flexible opportunity and we are open to appointing the right candidate under one of two possible working arrangements: Option 1 – Employed Caretaker Role • 17.5 hours per week • Approximately £13.26 per hour • Typical responsibilities would include: o Unlocking the school site at approximately 7.00am o Locking and securing the school site at approximately 6.00–6.30pm o Carrying out statutory fire and water safety checks o General maintenance and repairs around the school site o Monitoring the condition, cleanliness and safety of the premises o Liaising with contractors where required The working pattern would usually involve approximately 3.5 hours per day, split across morning and evening duties. Option 2 – Flexible Self-Employed / Contractor Arrangement We are also willing to consider a more flexible arrangement for the right person: • Agreed locking-up evenings each week (for example, three evenings per week) • All maintenance, testing, repairs and caretaking tasks charged to the school at £25 per hour, based on the hours required each month to fulfil the role This arrangement may particularly suit someone already working in site management, maintenance or property services who is looking for additional flexible work.
