I am recruiting for an established specialist construction business on a number of new schemes around Oxford. The company is a specialist contractor in bespoke design and building new properties as well as listed building refurbs and remodelling schemes. Their growth and success over the last 10 years has been amazing but they still retain a family feel to the business in terms of values and how they treat staff, clients and the wider supply chain.
They work on referrals and negotiated schemes and they are with the client every step of the way offering advice, support and finding new and innovative ways of working.
The projects are all JCT form of contract and are negotiated, priced, procured and managed as a typical scheme for a regional or Tier 1 contractor.
Responsibilities
* Work with estimating and bid teams to firm up prices and costs for each package based on initial bids, compile a working scope of works and bill of quants for each package
* Work with the supply chain to establish how each phase will be delivered, place orders and arrange pre-start meetings, and manage the scheme in conjunction with the delivery team
* Carry out the standard QS role of valuations, payments, remeasures, managing variation accounts, CVRs and weekly, monthly reporting and forecasting through to final account
* Manage a small on-site team
* Work with pre-con teams and directors at contract award stages to work on procurement and initial cost planning before taking onto site to manage the packages
* Handle site financial matters such as payments, valuations, variation accounts, CVRs, forecasting and planning multiple projects, and look after multiple projects and junior members of the team
* Provide training and development for junior and trainee members of the team and manage day-to-day workloads within an agreed framework
Qualifications
* Experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 business or an established main contractor
* Ability to work with JCT-form contracts
* Eligibility to live and work in the UK
