Head of Assets (Electricity)
ESP Utilities is seeking a Head of Assets to manage relationships with ICPs and Developers for network build-out under the asset adoption process, ensuring compliance.
This senior management role involves ensuring networks meet statutory and regulatory standards by establishing policies, procedures, and technical standards, and providing Tier 2 assurance of electrical processes.
The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge of electricity distribution, especially EHV networks, network development, and policy setting.
The role includes leadership responsibilities, liaising with executive teams and the board, fostering a culture of collaboration, safety, and high performance.
The candidate must stay informed on regulatory changes like Access SCR, TCR, and engage with industry bodies such as ENA and INA.
Role Purpose
* Ensure compliance of current and future networks with ESP standards, industry standards, and legislation.
* Engage with industry and regulatory forums to manage regulatory reform risks and develop compliance strategies.
* Identify and develop commercial opportunities in battery storage, EV, and new technologies.
* Contribute to operational, commercial, and regulatory discussions as part of the senior management team.
* Manage budgets and financial performance of asset management activities.
* Develop strategic risk management frameworks for electricity assets.
* Lead response to crises and network emergencies.
* Represent ESPUG in industry forums and meetings.
* Understand sector risks and lead industry innovation and energy scenario planning.
* Provide assurance frameworks to meet safety and compliance standards, including maintaining company accreditations.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure Electric Compliance by:
* Maintaining electric policies and procedures for compliance.
* Leading strategy for future network design to meet Net Zero targets.
* Advising on technical risks and code change impacts.
* Setting policies and conducting risk assessments.
* Ensuring accurate asset records and audit readiness.
* Reporting on compliance and conducting audits.
* Acting as main contact for HSE.
* Supporting customer design of EHV networks.
* Building relationships with regulatory bodies, industry partners, and clients.
Develop and Maintain Asset Management Policies and Accreditations:
* Risk management and asset investment planning.
* Ensuring assets are maintained and services are compliant and safe.
* Leading technological innovation in asset management.
* Supporting design, land rights, and emergency response.
Maintain Accreditations:
* ISO55001 compliance.
* Metering and statutory reporting.
* Industry compliance and INA collaboration.
Manage Network Performance:
* Monitoring, reporting, and improving network performance.
* Establishing KPIs and reviewing data for strategic alignment.
Key Skills
* Experience with electricity distribution networks up to 132kV, preferably EHV.
* Knowledge of regulatory and HSE frameworks.
* Understanding of network design principles and procurement.
* Ability to oversee design, construction, and operation of EHV networks with qualified partners.
* In-depth knowledge of relevant standards, legislation, and industry specifications.
* Degree or equivalent in Electrical Power Engineering; Chartered status preferred or in progress.
