We have a new opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team within Vistry Cotswolds, at our site in Lotmead, Swindon. As our Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all costs relating to our projects. Your focus is to minimise the costs of a project and enhance margin and value for money, whilst still achieving the required standards and quality. This will include procurement, subcontract management, contract administration, monthly payments, final account settlement, external valuations, and cashflows.

* HNC in Surveying or Construction or equivalent
* Minimum 10 years experience in the Construction industry working for a residential housing developer
* Minimum 5 years experience with a National House builder
* Excellent IT, analytical, and communication skills
* Strong mathematical ability
* Ability to assess and analyse information
* Good business sense
* Understanding of budget management
* Negotiating and networking skills
* COINS user experience
* Enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to work within a busy team and under pressure
* Good team working skills
* Accurate with an eye for detail and a methodical approach
Desirable –
* HND or higher qualification
* Professional membership of MCIOB or RICS, or working towards such qualification
* Experience with different methods of construction, e.g., Timber Frame
* Previous experience working with strategic partners
More about the Senior Quantity Surveyor role…
* Collaborate with departments including Land, Development, and Construction, attending design meetings to advise on cost implications
* Attend development meetings, contract pre-start, and subcontract package review meetings
* Check contract drawings for errors, omissions, anomalies, and unnecessary costs upon receipt of contract documentation
* Assist in preparing tender lists, updating procurement programmes, and distributing design packages and tender drawings
* Prepare construction cost analyses and assess quotations from tenders
* Assess site staffing levels, build programmes, and preliminary costs with the Site Manager
* Organize and adjudicate budget settlement meetings with the Commercial team
* Prepare stage payment schedules and manage subcontractor orders, including negotiations and references
* Issue variation orders, provide cost advice on major variations, and negotiate contract sums
* Check and reconcile all costs, manage subcontractor payments, and agree final accounts
* Prepare documents for external valuations and keep RAMS schedules updated
* Liaise with Customer Service on post-completion defects, attend meetings, and perform other duties as directed
* Accountable for CVR reports and overall cost control
