ROLE SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Lead QA Engineers are responsible for influencing the test strategy for Engineering and Product Lines within their designated squad. Working with the engineering squad to improve the quality of ENSEK’s software, enhancing test frameworks and tools, and making risk assessments for software releases. You will coach and mentor other members of the test team in the squad (change to department).

You will be responsible for leading and driving continuous improvement of testing best practices within the product line/squad, remaining current on new technologies, making recommendations, and sharing knowledge within areas of domain expertise with peers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Lead QA Engineer is responsible for:

1. Leading as the go-to person for one squad or for one product/technical domain impacting multiple squads.
2. Collaborating closely with the Principal QA Engineer, Architects, Lead Engineers, and Engineering Management on testing best practices, tools, and strategies to ensure successful product delivery.
3. Formally leading other squad members, setting direction in alignment with the Test Strategy and Roadmap, and driving continuous improvement across people, processes, and quality.
4. Building and maintaining core automation test frameworks to support the wider Product Engineering department.
5. Owning and maintaining QA environments and data to ensure testing is carried out in a clean, stable environment reflecting UAT and Production as closely as possible.
6. Ensuring accurate test coverage within your perimeter, with a focus on automated test coverage.
7. Managing and reviewing ENSEK testing tool set, staying updated with technological developments and best practices.
8. Contributing to the central view of QA status across the ENSEK Product Portfolio.
9. Driving continuous improvement in all areas affecting product quality, including test environments, release strategies, and monitoring.
10. Maintaining and developing QA skills through external training and sharing practices within the QA community.
11. Being the focal point for all testing-related queries and escalations related to the Product line, ensuring swift resolution.
12. Owning the release process, making risk-based decisions, and providing QA sign-off.
13. Participating actively in QA recruitment processes.
14. Communicating effectively with senior stakeholders and clients on QA topics.
15. Contributing to an agile team, sharing skills, mentoring Test Engineers, and participating in refinement sessions.
16. Promoting ENSEK values and adding value to clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
17. Fostering a positive, results-oriented work environment, building partnerships and teamwork.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

1. Understanding product/QA architecture beyond squad scope.
2. Extensive hands-on testing experience within Agile projects, with knowledge of CI/CD or DevOps practices.
3. Advising on test scope, approach, risks, and assumptions, ideally within a microservice architecture.
4. Experience as a Test Engineer in a delivery-focused environment, with API and/or UI automation expertise.
5. Knowledge of open-source tools and cloud services, programming in .NET, C#, JavaScript.
6. Experience in non-functional testing aspects such as security and performance.
7. Ability to coach others diplomatically.
8. Experience as a testing lead within an Agile environment, preferably in the Energy/Utilities sector.
9. Agile and Software Testing certifications are preferred.

SOFT SKILLS:

1. Ability to identify and resolve challenges within the squad, inspiring resilience and positivity.
2. Approachable, strong communicator capable of influencing and persuading, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders and clients.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Proven ability to manage dependencies, coordinate activities, and prioritize efforts.
