The project:
Mace has been appointed as the lead project controls and PMO team for a large-scale complex infrastructure project. Mace consult will provide project controls and PMO services for the new build construction work of multiple secure sites throughout the UK.
The opportunity - senior planning manager (project not enterprise) is near Warrington site-based 3-4 days per week.

To support project managers in the delivery of projects by providing high-level planning service for the preparation of project plans, producing baseline scheduled tasks, resource profiles and financial models. The successful person will be involved in improving the consistency, predictability and efficiency of the programme project delivery capability and provide leadership in best practices that are highly customer-focused - outward and upward and are consistent with customer expectations.
The role will ensure that the operational issues of the project controls and PMO are managed, focusing on the project interface with project leaders, project managers, project teams, and interface issues.
You’ll be responsible for:
5. Leads application of specific planning/scheduling methods, techniques and tools.
6. Planning/scheduling, EVM, project controls methodologies
7. Advising on complex requirements and communicating analysis and corrective measures effectively.
8. Managing the planning/scheduling delivery of medium/high complexity projects/programmes.
9. Playing a key role in multidisciplinary teams and taking a lead role in creating plans or analysing trends using numerical and statistical techniques.
10. Leads and manages a team of professionals delivering planning/schedule management services and is responsible for staff development.
11. Staying up to date with key industry/professional trends as a planning/schedule management specialist.
12. In-depth knowledge of schedule management tools and software.
13. Effective and timely advice to clients.
14. Understanding of data management.
15. Excellent attention to detail and ability to validate and check schedule management inputs, recording and reports produced, providing basic commentary and analysis.
16. Manages assistant and planning managers where required by the scale of the project.
17. Persuading and influencing colleagues.
18. Influences clients to accept proposals and recommendations.
19. Satisfying customer requirements.
20. Tackling problems that don’t have an obvious solution.
21. Delegating tasks to others.
22. Selling the business and winning work.
23. Creating and delivering persuasive presentations to large audiences.
24. Spotting and developing talented individuals.
You’ll need to have:
25. Exposure to working as a Primavera P6 project planner on large-scale civil engineering/infrastructure projects ideally for a tier 1 contractor or a client-side consultancy.
26. A construction-related degree (civil/structural engineering, construction/project management or equivalent).
27. Experience working on large projects/programmes.
28. A construction or project management background.
