Pay rate: £12.46 £20.37 per hour (depending on experience)
I am recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded Leeds based university for a Technician to join their team on a full time temporary basis. This role will involve supporting practical teaching and research activities, maintaining equipment, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment for staff and students.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain laboratory, workshop, or technical equipment for teaching and research purposes
Support academic staff and students during practical sessions
Carry out routine maintenance, calibration, and testing of equipment
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and university procedures
Assist with inventory management and procurement of technical supplies
Provide guidance on the safe use of specialist equipment and materials
Requirements
Previous experience in a technical, laboratory, or practical support role, preferably within higher education or a similar setting
Relevant technical qualification or equivalent experience
Knowledge of health and safety procedures and risk assessment processes
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
