Are you an AAT studier looking to develop your accounting career in a supportive and flexible environment?
We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established business seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in transactional finance and exposure to month-end processes, who's keen to progress their career with study support and a varied role.
The Role:
You'll play a key role in maintaining the accuracy of the purchase and sales ledger, supporting month-end routines, and providing financial insights to aid decision-making. You'll also be involved in improving systems and supporting the wider finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process supplier invoices via purchase order matching or manual coding
- Reconcile and maintain both purchase and sales ledgers, including allocating cash payments and receipts.
- Liaise with internal teams (e.g. Purchasing, Customer Service) to resolve invoice and billing queries.
- Maintain accurate customer and supplier records, including processing statements and sending Proof of Deliveries (PODs) when required.
- Prepare monthly spend and income reports using general ledger analysis.
- Process expense claims, company credit card transactions, and manage petty cash
- Support the audit process by providing necessary backing documentation.
- Adhere to internal accounting controls and policies.
- Assist with credit control and cash reporting as needed.
- Provide general finance team support and perform ad hoc tasks
What We're Looking For:
- Actively studying AAT (or equivalent)
- Previous experience in transactional finance (AP/AR)
- Month-end exposure (accruals, journals, reconciliations etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident Excel user
- Strong communication and teamworking skills
