Overview
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at New Barn School, Berkshire. The role involves delivering bespoke assessment and intervention to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs, and working collaboratively with the education team and multi‑disciplinary staff.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils.
* Maintain a caseload in line with OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working.
* Collaborate with the education team, multi‑disciplinary staff and families to develop and implement support plans.
* Provide staff training and consultation as required.
* Work under the support of a clinical supervisor and site lead.
Qualifications (Required)
* Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT.
* Experience working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary working across a range of settings.
* Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers.
* Strong relationship‑building, analytical and judgemental skills.
* Good oral and written communication.
* Strong time‑management and organisational skills.
* Competent in core areas of SaLT practice with a clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and formulation of support plans.
* Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Willingness to attend training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group.
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
* Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
* Full driving licence and access to a car.
Contract & Location
Permanent (term‑time only, with flexibility for a full‑time contract depending on circumstances). Location: New Barn School, Berkshire RG20 8HZ.
