Join to apply for the Vehicle Technician role at Dorset Council UK. Dorset Council Fleet Services has a vacancy for a full‑time Commercial Vehicle Technician at its workshop in Shaftesbury. What You’ll Be Doing
* Service and maintain refuse collection vehicles based at the depot.
* Complete safety inspections on vehicles.
* Service and prepare vehicles for annual test, including steam cleaning.
* Handle unscheduled breakdowns and repair running defects, requiring flexibility.
* Attend road‑side breakdowns as needed.
* Work beyond normal hours when necessary to return frontline vehicles to service.
* Work from one of the other four vehicle workshops if service requires.

* Good housekeeping in workshops and attend any Council‑arranged training.

What We’re Looking For
* Prior experience working on commercial vehicles.
* NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level or equivalent qualification in vehicle maintenance/engineering.
* Full UK driving licence (provisional licence not acceptable) and Class C entitlement.
* Sound knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and the DVSA guide to “Maintaining Roadworthiness Commercial, Goods and Public Service Vehicles.”
