A bit about us...
Please allow us to celebrate our own success for a moment… We’ve built a customer‑centric product that is market‑leading, and we are smashing it!
We’re a multi‑award‑winning digital payments and insights platform within the automotive industry. We support over 5,000 automotive retailers, helping drivers spread the cost of motoring bills, accessories and servicing through flexible payment options. Our purpose is simple: to give drivers peace of mind while improving the customer experience and supporting dealer profitability.
Following our successful Series B in 2024, Bumper continues to scale across the UK and Europe — and we’re excited to welcome a passionate and experienced SRE/DevOps Engineer, based in either our Sheffield or London office, to help us take our platform reliability and engineering excellence to the next level.
Our Head Office is in Sheffield City Centre, with offices also based in London and Turkey. We've also expanded further, bringing retailers in Ireland, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands on board, with the vision of being the leading automotive payment and insights platform!
A bit about the role...
We’re looking for an SRE/DevOps Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure team. In this role, you’ll help shape and strengthen the reliability, scalability and observability of our cloud‑native platform. You’ll work across the business to improve how we build, deploy and monitor our systems, while playing a key role in incident response and continuous improvement.
You’ll report directly to our Head of DevOps & Infrastructure and will collaborate closely with engineers across Bumper to build a high‑performance, well‑monitored, developer‑friendly platform — and you’ll be a key voice in building a strong SRE and DevOps culture across the team.
This is a full-time role hybrid-role, based in one of our UK offices (Sheffield or London – Hammersmith). Our ideal candidate would be able to work at least 3 days a week from one of these locations.

* Manage and enhance our Kubernetes (EKS) platform to support reliable, modern applications
* Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Helm
* Improve and support CI/CD pipelines using Argo Workflows, ArgoCD and GitHub Actions
* Lead and participate in incident response, including on‑call activities and major incident coordination
* Drive high‑quality monitoring, alerting and observability across metrics, logs and traces
* Conduct and support blameless post‑incident reviews, ensuring follow‑up actions are delivered
* Define and implement SLIs/SLOs to improve service reliability and operational excellence
* Collaborate with engineering teams to embed best practices and improve developer experience
* Contribute to automation, tooling, and continuous improvements that reduce toil and increase platform resilience
What we are looking for in you…
We’re excited to welcome someone who shares our passion for building reliable, scalable, well‑engineered cloud systems. You thrive in environments where operational thinking, curiosity, and continuous improvement are valued.
* Proven experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles
* Strong hands‑on experience running Kubernetes in production
* Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms
* Solid experience with Terraform and IaC automation
* Experience participating in or managing production incidents and on‑call
* Strong grasp of monitoring, alerting, and observability principles
* Ability to diagnose and fix complex distributed systems issues
* Demonstrated use of GenAI tools (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Claude) in engineering workflows
* Excellent communication and calmness under pressure
* A passion for automation and reducing toil
Nice to haves...
* Experience with Grafana Cloud, IRM or other incident management tools
* Familiarity with Argo Workflows / ArgoCD
* Experience defining SLIs/SLOs at scale
* Background in Platform Engineering
* Experience improving or redesigning incident management processes
We’re an international team, and English is our shared working language. You’ll collaborate frequently with colleagues in the UK, so confidence communicating in English is important for this role.
