Job Summary
As a Laboratory Technician specialising in Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES), and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), you will support research and development projects. Your responsibilities include operating and maintaining analytical instruments, sample preparation, data analysis, and collaborating with researchers to achieve project goals.
Responsibilities:
1. Instrument Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain SEM, XRD, XRF, and OES instruments. Perform routine calibrations and quality control checks. Troubleshoot and resolve instrument issues.
2. Sample Preparation: Prepare samples for analysis, including cutting, grinding, polishing, or coating. Ensure proper sample handling and storage.
3. Data Collection and Analysis: Collect data using specified techniques, ensuring accuracy. Collaborate with researchers to interpret data and report results.
4. Safety and Quality Assurance: Follow safety protocols and quality procedures to ensure a safe working environment and data reliability.
5. Collaboration and Communication: Work with research teams, provide technical support, and act as an equipment expert. Ensure training is documented.
6. Instrument Upkeep and Inventory Management: Manage consumables inventory and coordinate maintenance and repairs.
7. Professional Development: Stay updated on technological advancements and participate in training and conferences.
Qualifications:
* Relevant scientific qualification (e.g., chemistry, materials science, physics) or working towards one.
* Experience with SEM, XRD, XRF, and OES preferred.
* Proficiency in sample prep and data analysis.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
* Commitment to safety and quality standards.
