About Ormston School

Opened in September 2024, Ormston School provides a safe and supportive environment for pupils aged 5 to 18. Our mission is to create a learning space where young people can thrive, feel secure, and leave school equipped with the experiences and outcomes necessary to contribute positively to their communities.

With significant investment and a wealth of new resources, you will have the opportunity to shape our school culture, promoting self-discipline, engagement, and inspiring learning. As part of the Polaris Community, we have been passionately improving the lives of young people for over 30 years, with 100% of our education services rated as Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.


Your Role and Responsibilities

As a SEND Teacher, you will:

* Teach allocated areas of the Secondary curriculum to small bespoke class groups of up to 6 pupils, supported by a Teaching Assistant.
* Plan, prepare, and present engaging lessons tailored to the diverse needs of your students.
* Assess, monitor, and report on the learning needs, progress, and achievements of your pupils.
* Set high standards that inspire, motivate, and challenge students.
* Adapt teaching methods to respond to the strengths and needs of each pupil.
* Participate in preparing learners for external tests and assessments.


What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree.
* Successful teaching experience, particularly in delivering qualifications up to GCSE.
* Experience in Humanities, PE, or vocational subject areas is preferred.
* Knowledge of the National Curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
* A good understanding of child development and learning processes.
* Strong relationship-building skills with pupils and a commitment to safeguarding practices.
* Good ICT skills, especially in using technology to enhance learning.
