Job Summary
The Cafe Manager will be responsible for maintaining efficient operations, supervising staff, and fostering a welcoming environment for all patrons.
This will include creative licence with seasonal menu items, with an aim to empower staff to engage with the process, and guide them in promoting said items.
You will be taking care of the day-to-day operations, working with a talented and diverse group, with an aim to see the things others do not, and facilitate the team in keeping the place looking sharp, running smooth, and customers and staff all happy. It's a big task, but a rewarding one. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and extensive experience in food and service. We are particularly keen for someone who is as fair and kind as they are firm and assertive.
You will be tasked with ensuring food safety compliance is followed and documented, with support from other managers.
You will be coordinating with the bakery next door, and facilitating staff in their efforts to produce everything to high standards, and encouraging a environment of cooperation, productivity, sharing of skills, and hopefully fun too.
Duties
* Oversee daily cafe operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service throughout the establishment
* Lead, supervise, and motivate team members including baristas, kitchen staff, and serving personnel
* Manage food preparation processes, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation
* Coordinate food production activities to meet customer demand while adhering to food safety standards
* Implement and monitor health and safety protocols within the cafe environment
* Organise staff schedules, training sessions, and performance appraisals to optimise team productivity
* Maintain stock levels, order supplies, and manage inventory control effectively
* Ensure compliance with licensing laws and health regulations related to food safety and hygiene
* Foster excellent customer relations by addressing feedback promptly and professionally
* Assist in marketing initiatives to promote the cafe's offerings and increase patronage
Qualifications
* Proven supervising experience within a restaurant or hospitality setting, preferably as a manager or team leader
* Extensive knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations
* Strong background in food safety standards and food production processes
* Experience in hospitality management with excellent organisational skills
* Familiarity with restaurant or hotel environments; barista experience is advantageous
* Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively
* Excellent communication skills with a friendly yet professional demeanour
* Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of service and quality
* Knowledge of current trends in culinary arts and customer service excellence
