Regional Building Surveyor

The Building Surveyor reports to the Head of Construction and will manage capital and large revenue projects, including dilapidation projects, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements while keeping projects on-time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough inspections of buildings to assess their compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
* Review construction plans and specifications to ensure they align with regulatory requirements and standards.
* Ensure that projects adhere to local and national building codes and regulations.
* Regularly visit sites to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and verify that work is being executed according to approved plans.
* Maintain detailed records of inspections, assessments, and findings. Prepare reports documenting compliance or recommending corrective actions.
* Assess and enforce safety measures to guarantee the well‑being of workers and occupants during and after construction.
* Collaborate with contractors and other key stakeholders to provide guidance, address concerns, and ensure project objectives are met.
* Consider and advise on environmental impact and sustainability aspects in construction projects.
* Stay updated on changes in building codes, regulations, and industry standards to maintain a high level of expertise and provide accurate guidance.
* Carry out any planned preventative repairs & maintenance within the estate.
* Act as an ambassador for ETEL’s company values and behaviours at all times.
Candidate Profile
* Qualifications in Construction, Building Surveying, or a related field.
* Proven experience in building pathology, defect diagnosis, and building regulations.
* Working knowledge of current CDM and H&S Legislation.
* Experience in managing building and maintenance projects, contractors, schedules of condition and programmes of work.
* Ability to work to deadlines or time frames without compromising the quality of work and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
* Demonstrated knowledge of building compliance and sustainability issues within the built environment.
* Knowledge of common building services (mechanical and electrical) (Desirable).
* Commitment to undertake training in CAD drawing packages.
* Full UK Cat B drivers licence – Essential.
* MRICS or MCIOB desirable but not essential; training to this level will be provided.
