As a team we lead the design and technical direction of solutions across our Corporate, Public Sector, and Enterprise customer base, operating across the full customer lifecycle—from early‑stage engagement and presales through design activities, and handover to the implementation and support functions. Our team ensures that every solution is innovative, scalable, and aligned to the customer's business objectives.

As a Senior Solutions Architect within the cloud solutions team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping technology outcomes for our customers, specifically focused on the AWS Platform. You will act as both a strategic advisor and a hands‑on architect, translating business needs into practical, future‑ready designs that can be implemented by our delivery team or directly by customers.
This role requires the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders, internally and externally, influencing solution direction and ensuring alignment with best practice, governance, and architectural principles. You will also mentor junior team members and contribute to the evolution of our solution methodologies.
Responsibilities
* Demonstrate subject‑matter expertise in AWS principles, including the Well‑Architected Framework pillars.
* Design hybrid and cloud‑based solutions and architectures, covering key areas such as:
o Workload migrations to AWS
o AWS funding schemes (e.g., MAP)
o IaaS, PaaS and SaaS offerings in AWS
o AWS security principles
o Governance and compliance principles
o Backup and restore strategies
o Broad understanding of key AWS services
o Well‑Architected Design Principles for new and existing environments
* Show keen interest in cutting‑edge technologies such as artificial intelligence to deliver consultative services for customer journeys.
* Develop skills and knowledge in areas identified by the Softcat cloud roadmap and service development strategies.
* Maintain awareness of newly released AWS services and disseminate information to the team.
* Provide consultative presales support, identifying customer challenges, requirements and business needs.
* Work independently as well as part of a team to achieve results.
Qualifications
* AWS Solutions Architect Associate and Professional certifications (additional AWS‑related certifications beneficial).
* Understanding of on‑premises infrastructure technologies and their mapping to AWS or other cloud services.
* Experience in a managed service provider environment supporting Managed Service Customers.
* Awareness of serverless technologies and how developers use them to build scalable and robust services.
* Consultative skills in a presales context with the ability to identify customer challenges and business needs.
