Somerset Counselling Centre is seeking a dynamic and visionary Clinical Director to guide us into our next exciting chapter.
As our senior clinical lead, the Clinical Director provides expert clinical and strategic leadership in close collaboration with our Operations Director. You will shape the future of our services, uphold the highest standards of therapeutic practice, and strengthen the Centre’s impact across the community.
We have just completed our most recent five‑year strategy a full year ahead of schedule, and we are now ready to embark on the next phase of our development. This is an exciting moment of growth and renewal—and we are looking for an exceptional clinical leader to help steer the organisation forward.

About the Role
As Clinical Director, you will:
* Lead and inspire our clinical team, ensuring excellence in service delivery
* Develop and implement our new five-year strategy in collaboration with the Operations Director, Trustees and the organisation as a whole
* Foster clinical partnerships with local and regional organisations
* Oversee clinical governance, safeguarding, and quality assuranceSupport the development of trainees and oversee qualified counsellors and our team of supervisors
* Contribute to fundraising and community engagement efforts
* Represent the Centre externally and advocate for mental health and wellbeing
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll be:
* A qualified and accredited counsellor or psychotherapist (BACP, UKCP or equivalent)
* Experienced and robust clinician
* Experienced supervisor
* Have the ability to engage with complex casework discussions, offering clinical insight, containment, and guidance to practitioners
* Experienced in leading clinical teams and managing services
* Skilled in partnership working and stakeholder engagement
* Confident in governance, risk management, and safeguarding
* Passionate about equity, inclusion, and access to mental health support
* Experience in a charity or third-sector setting is desirable, but not essential.
