The Role
As a Payroll Executive, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely payroll services to a varied portfolio of clients. Working as part of a supportive payroll team, you will manage end-to-end payroll processes while building strong client relationships and ensuring compliance with current legislation.
Your responsibilities will include:
Input payroll data as required, including running audit and validation checks and interfacing with General Ledger and pension systems
Monitor and process statutory payments, including SSP, SMP, and other entitlements
Complete year-end payroll reporting where applicable
Maintain and update time and attendance systems (BMS)
Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including auto-enrolment compliance, for a portfolio of clients
Respond to payroll related queries, acting as a trusted point of contact for clients
Provide support for payroll enquiries
Perform peer reviews of payroll outputs
Support general administrative tasks and contribute to the wider payroll team
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, internal teams, HMRC, and third-party providers
Communicate effectively across the payroll function and wider business
Requirements
Minimum of one year’s payroll experience, ideally within a practice or bureau/client facing environment
Experience managing end-to-end payroll processes, including pensions, benefits, and statutory payments
Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy across both manual and system-based work
Ability to prioritise, organise and manage multiple tasks independently
Customer focused, with confidence handling queries via phone and email
Adaptable and comfortable working in a changing environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Solid understanding of payroll legislation and auto-enrolment requirements
Ability to perform manual payroll calculations
Benefits
Salary circa £27,000 - £30,000 per annum
