Overview
The Environment Agency is seeking an experienced investigator to join our National Investigations Team as a Senior Environmental Crime Officer. You will work with Senior Investigation Managers and our Major Incident Room to lead investigations into the most serious and complex environmental crimes, coordinating and overseeing all aspects from identifying lines of enquiry to casefile preparation and prosecution.

Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate major environmental crime investigations, working with Partnership Organisations and developing investigative teams and complex investigations.
* Identify lines of enquiry, review intelligence, raise and allocate actions, coordinate evidence gathering and interviews, and prepare case files for prosecution.
* Work on investigations involving Organised Crime Groups, illegal waste exports and large-scale fraud, contributing your investigative expertise to bring offenders to justice.
* Support the National Investigations Team in developing the team and refining investigation processes.
* Respond to incidents as part of the role and be available to provide incident response or business continuity support as needed.
Experience and Skills
* High level of attention to detail; hardworking, self-motivated with a strong investigative background.
* In-depth knowledge of investigative legislation (PACE and CPIA); excellent verbal and written communication skills; basic IT competency (Word, Excel, Teams).
* Knowledge of environmental crime and experience leading serious criminal investigations; familiarity with Major Incident Rooms is desirable.
* Ability to drive, use initiative to find solutions, and build and develop investigation teams.
* Full driving licence; willingness to travel.
* Successful completion of SC and NPPV2 Vetting within the 6-month probationary period.
Role specifics
* Hybrid working role; work from home and from the nearest Environment Agency Office with frequent travel for meetings and operational duties.
* Respond to incidents as part of the role; training and workplace adjustments provided as needed.
