Job Advert: SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism & Complex Needs

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support students aged 4-19 with autism and multiple learning difficulties in a nurturing and inclusive educational setting.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who require tailored support to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with autism and complex learning needs
2. Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
3. Support pupils in developing communication, social, and life skills
4. Help create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
5. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
6. Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing
7. Promote independence and confidence in learning and daily activities
Requirements:
8. Experience working with children or young people with autism and/or multiple learning difficulties (preferred)
9. Understanding of SEN strategies and approaches, including sensory needs and communication tools (, PECS, Makaton)
10. Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude
11. Strong teamwork and communication skills
12. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
